  • Liquid/Fog Problems

Hey Guys, i have a problem with my fog.I`m working on a Wine bottle. The bottle is clear glass and the wine is a rosè. No matter what i do the liquid turns black when i apply fog.the same way around. make a glass with a fog and then try to put water in it. the liqiud is black.!? do you understand my problem?the geometrie is right i tryed two solutions to imitate liquid in glasses. The problem is fog + fog. maybe you got a one render solution.

    thx

    Hi,

Can you post an example image?
Do you have overlapping faces between these objects ?

No there are no overlapping faces. This is my Scene a Pic1. Bottle green and empty Pic2. Liquid surface detached and normals flipped. Pic3 only the water.Click image for larger version

can you post a scene? are your measurements set correctly? i tend to like the liquid to overlap the bottle slightly in cases like this. maybe your fog strength is too high?

Hey da elf, yes i work in cm and the scale is 100%.even if my fog multiplier is down to 0,1 it turns black....i tried out with overlapping & detached and flipped normals. i`ll upload the scene but now its 22:27 o clock in germany and the scene is at work. thank you

              Hi,

              Thank you for the scene.
The Fog multiplier color value for object "oelflasche" is too high "5", try to set "0,1" for an example.
Also "Secondary rays bias" parameter can be lowered too.

Ok but i dont get a nice colored glass if i make the multiplier down to 0,1 and when i turn down the fog bias it will be the same , or not? do you have found a solution?please let me know or post a image. thx

                  Hi again,

I made some changes to the V-Ray settings, bottle/wain materials and bottle geometry.
HDR Environment is replaced with simple white color (the file is missing).
"Secondary ray bias" option is set to "0" ("0.1" is too high).
Both objects, bottle and liquid has fog color applied.

An example render with the original bottle and the new one:

You cant use flip normals. For fog to work object need a volume, closed space. This is what you didnt have in your bottle model.

For fog to work object need a volume, closed space.
Exactly, also need to play with Fog value because it depends on the object thickness.
And if you need to increase "Secondary ray bias" i can advise you to use values around "0.001"
