  • vray diffuse element gamma issue with blend material

Max vers 2013 latest service packs
    Vray 2.40.01

Problem: Incorrect Diffuse Pass when using Blend Materials connected to 2sided Materials and the blend shader is set to additive mode.

Take a look at the supplied scene and image. It looks as though the blend material is adding something to the diffuse element even when the blend material has no other connections (other than the base). This only happens in "additive mode". This was not the case in Vray 2.2.

When you turn on the additive mode, you get a warning that "This will lead to incorrect and slower renderings" - and this is one of the cases where you get an incorrect render.

I'll see if I can find a way around it...

    Best regards,
    Vlado

I fully understand that it adds energy additively, but when there are no materials present shouldn't it have no effect?

I've made some changes to the latest nightly builds for tomorrow; if you can check and let me know if it works as expected, I'll move the fix to the stable builds for the next update.

        Best regards,
