  • Vray RT - Production render render everything black after switching from Vray RT

    Hi guys,

pretty much as the topic says, we used RT to setup everything in the scene. all went nicely, then we swithed to production render and all we can see is a reflection of the vray light (with softbox map) on the object ...other than that...everything is pitch black.
WT$ is going on? Am i missing some important button? My vray is setup properly...this is insane i ve spent last 2 hours trying to figure this out.
    Please help.
    Thanks a lot!

    Best Regards

figured it out....its definitelly a BUG
Seems like switching from RT to production renderer actually corrupted the vray dome light with HDRI.
I have created a new light rig and it works fine now.

    Anyone else noticed this???

Could it be I am still on 2.3.01?

I am sending you the scene to your mail.
It has only 1.64MB so it should go through nicely.

in the scene, the light which is turned off is the one thats buggy.....the one thats on is a freshyl created with the same properties and works well.

Basically we created a scene and used RT ans active shade from the start.
Then we have changed to regular production render and the only thing we were able to see was the light from a very subtle soft box light....which pointed to the fact that there is something wrong with the vray dome light with HDRI.
Then i created a fresh dome light with the same properties and HDRI and it worked well.

If you turn of the light that works and then turn on the buggy light and then swith between RT and production, youll see what i mean.

          Thanks a lot!

Just a quick note...i have user SolidRocks to quickly setup production rendering.
It shoudl not be a problem, i use it quite often adn this has never happened....it shoudl not be able to mess with dome light.

You are a brave man using RT as a production renderer. I would not recommend this.

i am not using it as production renderer.
I ve used it to setup lighting and HDRI dome light angle ...then switched to classic vray production renderer and the dome light was corrupt .
Thought my initial post was quite clear

We could not replicate this in a new scene, but we did verify that your scene is corrupted, so we are trying to figure out what exactly happened.

                        Best regards,

                          Thank you very much Vlado!
The exact approach we did was RT from the beginning up until we were happy with everything and then we started setting up the production render.
We have used Solid Rocks plugin to set it up....may it be that it could corrupt the scene, but that woudl be very rare. Although we dont use SR too much , this never happened with SR. Anyway, it coudl be one piece in the puzzle for debugging.
