Hmm can you give steps for reproducing ? Or maybe a scene ?

there is nothing special in this scene. just a circle with fur and a length-map for fur.

without length-map i have also different result.

I couldn't reproduce it either.

We know that it is simple scene - but it would be much easier for us if you attach it.
Also please inform us about the exact versions of 3DSMax and Vray.

Ahm I see the difference and will notify you in this thread about the progress of the investigation

The problem is that you scaled your source object (the circle). This is a known issue - vrayfur+scaled geometry (and I hope it will be fixed soon). Please use non scaled objects for sources
