  • VrayColor2Bump cutting off...

    Hi there,

I'm using vraycolor2bump to derive a bump map from bercontiles as it seems to be the only way I can do it when textures are involved. Unfortunately I'm having an issue which I've not seen before where the bump just seems to get cut off at a particular angle. Please see attached. I have it happening with multiple cameras on multiple pieces of geometry.

Please see the attached image and scene file...

    Using Max 2012 64 PU 12
Vray 2.20.03 (IT at work makes it incredibly difficult to stay up to date with apps).

The strange thing is i've tried moving the view around and the point at which it stops also moves, even flips which side it is and isnt visible...

There was a bug in vraycolor2bump which caused this. It is fixed in newer V-Ray builds, but I need to update it on spot3d. I will try to do that a bit later today, but please remind me if I forget

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Actually, out of interests sake, can you explain to me why using a bercontile map with a texture as a sub map, doesn't produce bump data? I have to use a color2bump for it to work... Not sure if this is a berconmaps thing or something that's on the vray end...

So I updated vraycolor2bump and you can get the update here (you might have to refresh the page to show the new download):

The problem is in the BerconTile map; it probably does not take into account the bump of the sub-textures properly.
