  • Odd Specular Reflection Issue on Mirrored Objects

    Hey all,

First post here, woot! I'm recreating the bridge of the Enterprise, and I've run into a bit of a snag. I modeled the floor in a half, UVW mapped the half, then mirrored it, then attached and welded the verts on the overlapping middle seam. However, when I render I get an odd error on the specular map...

The issue can clearly be seen on the rim of the floor underneath the center railing. The specular reflections just cut right off where the object was mirrored. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Has anyone run into this issue before?

    Thanks!

i'd guess either something didn't weld, or you need to recalc your smoothing groups.

        Hey guys,

I'm really sorry for my delay. I've tried everything with smoothing groups, flipping my faces, etc. Any other thoughts? I may just go ahead and freakin' lay out the whole thing in it's own UV space.

Can you send us your scene - you could delete all objects and leave only the problematic ones.
