  • 3dsMaxCmd.exe VRay Issue with -camera flag

Can someone else please confirm or deny this:

Make a basic scene with a VRay Physical Camera and some simple objects. The camera can be named whatever you want, but take note of the name.

Render the scene using 3dscmd.exe (like many render controllers do).

The render works fine if you do NOT use the -camera (or -cam) flag.

If you use the -camera flag (like -camera:VRayPhysicalCamera001) the scene renders VERY dark, like no lights, and little or no AA.

Any else run into this? Would be nice for this to work, as it makes so you have to save different scenes to render with different camera (rather than specify the camera on the command line). It also breaks render controller scripts that use -camera by default.

    Anyone?

    Thanks!

False alarm. Sorry... It was the auto exposure on the camera (which I never use as I light the scene to be exposed properly rather than relying on auto exposure).

So without the -camera switch it was rendering the perspective view, which matched the camera, but did not have the exposure control.

Turning off the exposure in the camera fixed it.
