  • VRay Light invisible, or not.

I currently have a scene (buildings) that I am trying to illuminate the interiors with vray sphere lights within various rooms, and I have "invisible" checked on all of the lights, however they are still very much visible through the glass.

How would I go about making them invisible? I'm ending up with large glowing spheres in each room!

Invisible option make the light not visible through camera rays - but the reflections of the light will be visible , so you have to also turn off affect reflection from the light properties.

Presumably that will make the light invisible in all reflections then? It's a shame, because just outside the window it's creating some lovely reflections on some cladding.

It's not what you asked but depending of the height of the building and if you want nice lighting.... I used before several boxes, after that I attached them ( one object) and apply random material Id by elements.... The material for the object would by a multiobject material with different vraylight mat intensities, colors, on/off, etc.

maybe you could try excluding the window glass from the V-Ray light? (I have not tried that yet.)

It's a good idea, but the building is too small to warrant that, it just wouldn't look right on anything other than a large building/skyscraper.
