  • VRayCarPaint..... very simple question...

    Hi,

This is a very simple question but I've not seen anywhere in a tutorial where this step has been mentioned....

I want to apply VRayCarPaint to my car.....

Do I need to apply a UVWMap to my car body for the VRayCarPaint material to work properly ?

    No tutorial mentions this step.

My machine is a little old and VRayRT doesn't give me as instantaneous feedback as I'd like so I can fiddle with the material setting to quickly see what's what, but I generally understand this material.

So, if I do need to apply a UVWmap to my car body, do I have to be ultra accurate (i.e. UnwrapUVW modifier and do each panel ??)

    Many thanks,

    Jez

No you don't. You can use triplanar projection for the flakes inside the vraycarpaint material. It generates sufficient uvs automatically based on surface normal and object space.
