  • HELP!!!Multimatte or which solution??

    Hey Guys,
i hope you can help me with my problem.

So i have a Job where i have to create a Online Shoeshop where you are able to costomize your Shoes. So i scanned 87 real Shoe models retopoed them an createt 107 different Materials.
The task is to render out every single Element of the Shoe as one Pass so that i can overlay them in Photoshop to switch the different Materials.
I thought i can render every single Element of the Shoe with psmanager so i can overlay every Material. But it did not work.
So do you have an idea how to render out everysingle Element as a single pass which is clean antialised.? I want to animate the Materials via Multisub & Material Modifier.
    Please help me Guys!!

    Thx to all

Thats a tricky one. Why did psmanager did not work? I also dont understand exactly waht you want to do. U want to render 1 shoe using 107 materials and then change them in PS?

Ok so you need to use extra tex I believe. Make 107 render elements of it. Stick in each 1 of it a different material. Then you need to render masks for each part of shoe... Masks should be RGB. Let me know if you got it, if no maybe lets Skype...

          Hey DADAL,

thank you for your advice. I tryed once with extra tex but it dont support Multisub i guess. Do you think its the only way to achive this result? I have 87 Modells....

I thought you want to have 1 shoes in 107 materials and then use masks to pick which material goes where... isn't that what you want? Then just use masks to create different mixes of shoes.

I don't think Render-Masks should work in this case because it is not possible to separate the contribution of the different materials in a AA-pixels with any mask, and as a result there will be always artifacts on that edges when you are trying to replace materials on post. The only solution that comes to my mind and it works fine here with Nuke is to render all parts of the boot with all materials separately on a black background - and then to combine them.
With that setup all the images will be pre-multiplied over a black-color and the blending in edge-areas will be almost perfect. Of course even with that work-flow there will be some downsides - for example the GI-solution for all materials will be different and when the images are combined on post, they won't have the correct GI-bleeding.

                  Hey Guys,
finally i got a solution. Its Matteobjects and scenestates. You have to animate a lot but thats the way it goes. After rendering i load the footage in AE and use the Alpha as Matte and refine it and export every singel frame/object with the Material out. With the refined Alphamask you wont see anything when you overlay all the MaterialsClick image for larger version
