  • Strange power issue with vray plane lights when max 2012 scene converted to max 2014

Has anyone else experienced this ? I have a large amount of scenes setup in max 2012 that render fine but the plane lights multiplier needs to be set much higher in max 2014 and seems to render a lot slower now.

I'm not sure if this problem is down to vray. I'm experiencing other strange things like camera target positions changing when loading into max 2014. Not sure what is going on. I'm installing max 2012 again to see if there is still the same difference between the versions.

Okay. I've opened up exactly the same scene in max 2012 and max 2014 and you can see below the difference between the renders.

As you can see, gamma, lighting, opacity and camera positions are completely different. What the hell ?

I've re-installed 3dsmax 2014 and the issue with the lighting was sorted. The camera was down to scene scale being different from the previous version. Phew !
