  • Please Help. Can't find V-Ray license server from Render Slave!

    Hey guys,

    Quick question.

Im setting up V-Ray on a render slave. Its asking where it can find the license for V-Ray which is currently located on my main workstation.

How do I get it to recognise its location over the network as I cant access my C:// on my machine from the render slave.

Its asking for the License Server name and a Connection Port. Im putting in my main computer's name as the License Server but what do I put where it says Port? How would I get this information?

Please see the attached image for reference. (Both images are taken from the screen of the render slave)

    Within image:
A = In 3Ds Max, it states that it cannot obtain the license for V-Ray
B = License Server Name (default)
    C = Connection Port (default)
D = This is the location where my V-Ray license is on my main workstation
E = I entered my computer name into the 'License Server Name' box and left the Port at default as I wasnt sure what to put it there
F = I hit OK, and the error message says 'Cannot Save Settings'

      Hi Vlado.

I think we just posted at the same time.

I think this post is probably the most relevant to stay on as its got the images and you get to see what Im up against.

I have tried putting in the computer name and the ip address for the machine and it just keeps saying cant save settings.
What do I put in the Port number?

      regards,

      jonm4y

The default port for the License Server is 30304.

          Hi,

Do you have any Firewall application installed and running on your machines (even the native Windows firewall system)?
If yes, please try to turn them off and run another test render.

Let me know if you still have problems with the license.
