  • MultiMatte through glossy glass shader

    Hi,
I have a sphere behind a simple glass plane. I want the sphere to be visible in the multimatte element. So I changed under Reflection /Affect Channels/ AllChannels in the glass shader . Everything works fine until I change the Refraction Glossines parameter to a value under 1.0
After changing the glossiness to 0.99 for example the sphere is completely gone in the mm render element.
Is there a specific reason for that?

    regards Jonathan

There's no specific reason - it's just not implemented. It is on the "to do" list to fix this.

        hi,
while using fog, i also cant see the multimatte...

does this move it up on the "to do" list?

It works with the fog - but it depends on fog distance value, if you have a very dense fog camera rays are not able to reach the object behind.

            Hi Svetlozar,

i should be more precise, sorry! i meant in material refraction 1.0 and fog-color.

              Hi,

It should work, but only if you have refraction glossiness set to 1. Otherwise the object behind the glass will be "black" in the multimatte pass.
We have to fix this too.

Edit: Actually we have some improvements about those issues and i hope to be able to add them for the next beta.

Hm, this actually works fine in V-Ray 3.0; not sure about 2.x though.

                Best regards,
                Vlado

Currently on version 2.40.04 (older project), is this not going to be fixed at all in version 2.xx? I am speaking specifically about the multiMatte through glossy refractions.

I have to check if it is possible to port this fix in the 2.x builds. But even if the change is possible, the fix will be only available in the 2.x nightly.
