  • Vray Camera - incorrect Film back and Focal length when XREFed

As per title - Xreffing a vray camera does not bring an identical one into the scene.

Camera was an Xref Object. The result was close enough to look correct but the resulting focal length is slightly off and none of my mattes line up.

Ouch. Sounds like a nasty bug. I've been warned off using Xref Objects many times, and thanks for another heads-up.

I don't think it was the xref object causing the problem.

One scene was using inch system units, parent using cm. perhaps a rounding problem. But yes a pretty big one.

In the end I bit the bullet, merged all xrefs into scenes with cm system units. Fixed all the associated problems, re-set up all my passes. Used xref object for camera again. Rendering. Fixed corrupt map pathing in one xref. Re-rendering.

All good experience I guess - but frustrating.
