Render Last Button Bug/feature?

2014 sp3 Vray 2.40.04
In the Vray FrameBuffer whenever the "Render Last" button is pressed a Max render window pops up but the VRFB still does the render, I think it used to to this in 2013 too.
Bit annoying... is it a bug or a feature?

Do you have any Render Effects in the 3ds Max Effects dialog?
