  • Vray + Deadline Render Elements Problem

Hey, I am having a problem rendering with Vray via Deadline.

I am using the Vray Framebuffer. I checked "Save Seperate Render Channels" as I want to save my Render Elements as seperate png sequences. When I submit that to Deadline the subfolders for are created but the the files are not placed there but into the root folder. How can I make this work?

When rendering without Deadline it works fine. When rendering with Deadline and another renderer it works too. So I guess it's a problem between vray and deadline.

It seemed like it would work turning off vray framebuffer, but I discovered another bug. I'll post a new thread in order to not create more confusion here

    Thanks,
    Daniel

its best to ask thinkbox support however if i remember correctly in the deadline submitter there is an option to separate passes to folders so instead of using the one n vray you gave to use the one in deadline.

With Deadline it's better to not use the VRay VFB, or use the VFB to write .vrimage.

I've hardcoded into our submitter to turn off the Vray VFB, worth doing for most instances.

Ok thanks, I will contact Thinkbox then.

I am working on an animation which is several thousand frames long with lots of particles. Thus I have to uncheck "Restart renderer between frames". That beeing done and switching off Vray VFB leads to totally messed up Render Elements. For some reason Vray then saves its Elements under the wrong filenames, sometimes you get a Reflection in your Zdepth, sometimes your Multimatte is saved as Zdepth.

depending on your workflow i would suggest against placing elems in to separate folders. just use multichannel exr, works really well no need to deal with many elements ...

Yes that would be option. But we are doing post in After Effects. Last time I checked multichannel exr were terribly slow.
