  • Vray lights edges appear in unfiltered zdepth pass

Hi, I am having an issue with vray lights outside edge appearing as bright white pixels in an unfiltered zdepth render element.

See attached screenshots of scene, and the element

If the element is checked Filtered they don't show up, but this isn't much good for compositing dof in AE

I realise I could render a seperate scene with no lights to get the zdepth, but I am doing an animation and would be much quicker to do it in one go. I am currently saving out as a multichannel 32bit exr from the VFB

    Any ideas on fixing this?

    Thanks

Actually it seems perhaps its not just the lights, in this scene its the edges of the glass material causing the white artifacts.. See attached.

Edit: Its apparently anything that causes the artifacts....see below, fringing on the trees, not sure what is happening?! Anyone?

That's very odd - can you attach the stripped down version of the scene which still holds the issue ?
We will also need to know which version of Vray and 3DSMax you are using.

Thank you very much in advance.

did this problem ever get resolved? I am having the exact same thing happening... 3dsmax + vay 2.40.04

edit: seemed to be a problem with the affect all channels in the shader as it was only appearing over transparent shaders. if you turn this off though and make color + alpha then you dont get any of your AOVs through the transparent objects.. ufghh... just seperate the scenes out i suppose.

If it works fine with Color+Alpha but not with All Channels it is mostly likely a bug.
Would it be possible to send us a simplified version of the scene along with a screen-shot of the result you got in your environment for investigation?

We were able to reproduce this issue and our developers are working on it.
Thank you for your helpful notes!

Hi guys sorry for late reply, but yes this problem still occurs happened yesterday on a project, I'm now on Vray 3.10 01 3ds max 2014 x64 SP5. Hopefully the issue gets sorted, makes doing DOF in post a hard task! Thanks.
