  • Max 2014 Vector map compatible?

I tried the new vector map on a simple scene. It worked OK.
But then I applied it to some object in a more complex production scene and then I got freezing material editor UI issues and when rendering there is a complete stall/endless calculation during the lightcache phase.
Does it even make sense to use the vector map, or is it just pixelating pdf's at render time, eating memory?

It's a bit choppy when rendering complex files. You get the chugging effect where buckets render in pulses, like they all slow down periodically and speed up again in between.
I guess this also affects LC as well. I havent tried loading multi page pdfs though.
My biggest gripe with it is the quality of the map at distances (very visible filtering/mip-map borders), and the fact that it sometimes it a bit flakey and throws errors/warnings for no apparent reason.

Would it be possible to send us a scene with that issues ?

This is exactly what it is doing - it rasterizes the file on the fly in tiles.
