  • Vray Lights same lumen value different results

I never really made used of the lumen feature inside vray but right now I need to get an even light distribution with different sized lights in vray. And I have read several forum posts and the vray help file but it seems like I am missing something or something isn't right. On the provided screenshot all lights have the same lumen value but give different results. Even though the help file says "the light intensity is not affected by size".
Hope somebody can clear this up for me.

    cheers,
    ralph

The help file has very weird wording on this issue. I think what is meant is - the amount of total light emitted is not affected by the size of the light, ie if you set it to 1000 lumens, the light will emit 1000 lumens regardless of it's size, so if the light is large the lumens are spread out and the light looks dark, if the light is small all 1000 lumens are emitted from a small spot and it's much brighter.

If you want the same brightness regardless of size, use the Luminance value, it sets the amount of light per sq/m of light.
