  • problem with skylight portals and detail enhacements.

    Here is simple scene: space lit from window. There are skylight portals at the window.
    Simple plane with 2-sided material and thin glass box behind.

    This 2-sided plane sometimes is illuminated and sometimes is not.
    Also - there are dark corners when details enhacement is turned ON.

    Irriadiance map, caustics OFF, glass affect shadows: ON, skylight portals: ON (store with IM: ON)

    When "store with IM" is OFF nothing's changed.

    Can't attach more files: corners are OK


    Maybe there is something wrong with skylight portals? And DE?
    I can attach scene if needed...

    Thank you for your detailed description of this issue. Actually a scene file will help us to troubleshoot the problem.

    Is there any changes to renders 2 and 4 when Secondary ray bias parameter is increased?

      There is some imrovement when I turn ON caustics for skylight portals.
      But dark corners unchanged.

        Thank you for sharing the scene file.

        The render result in point 2 could be a bug, 2Sided material behaves differently when is behind glass objects. It produces different lighting results between the "Affect shadows" setup and the caustics one. I will send this to our developers for consideration.

        About point 4, you may need to increase the radius parameter for the detail enhancement option in order to get smoother transition with the calculated Irr map. Also with this setup (Detail Enh. :ON) "Store with Irr map " option for the light should be OFF. It works correct only with Irr.map and not with the Brute force one. The render result will be darker at the area where Brute force is used.
