  • vray rendering only GI

    Hi guys,
What could cause vray to render only GI and not the final render? The global switch for this is off!
I tried merging my scene into a new one and again the same problem. It does LC, then IR and then stops. I downloaded the new Solid rocks plugin after I had an old one for a while, but I don't think it's the problem since it's ok in a test scene.

Even if the global switch is off, check that your IRmap mode is "single frame" and not in something like "animation (prepass)"
    Kind Regards,

Nope, not that either as I recall...will check when I get home.

It's so weird, no errors, just stops.

          No
And I just just checked, both LC and IR are on single mode.
I guess I'll have to start merging objects into a new scene group by group, although it's strange an object would cause this.

Merged the objects to a new scene the second time and it's ok now. Will now add other stuff, hope it doesn't trigger this again.
            thanks

Found it! I was rendering several frames but as stills, different camera positions. I was saving the frames with VFB, since I already had these files vray always asked me to overwrite. I DID notice it doesn't anymore, and because I checked for it not to.

When I was "typing" the file name in VFB I did not type it last time when the problem began, but clicked the already saved file (to pick up it's name) and used that. It was Bali00000. For some reason that made vray not prompt the "overwrite" when I click render and just stop after GI. Weird I know. Maybe something to look into.

Now, that I deleted the file name and typed just (my filename) Bali -and let vray add the zeroes, it asked me to overwrite when I clicked render so it's ok.

Edit: nope again it stopped, it seams it's something else, but still VFB related...it rendered the image fine (all the way) until I used VFB to save it.

Would it be possible to send over one of those problematic files for investigation ?
Thank you very much in advance.

                      Sorry for the late reply.
YES! We solved it for now!!!
For some reason render division region can't be "region count" it must be "region w/h"
