  • Problem with VrayLightMtl and skylight portal

Simple scene: sphere with VrayLightMtl applied is enclosed by spherical VrayLight set to Skylight portal.
Result is somewhat weird... Illumination is cutted off at some distance - why?
Also there is a strange shadow behind spheres.

I thought I can enclose complex self-illuminated object with Vray Skylight to speed up things...

Does it go away if you set the light cutoff to 0.0?

      Best regards,

Try turning Direct Illumination ON of the VRayLightMtl.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

We are still having issues with VrayLghtMat with direct illum on loaded as xref. It got loop endlessly during trans vert.

I will need a scene for that, because with the one attached here (xrefed), I'm not getting that loop.

This was fixed at one point; which V-Ray version do you have?

              Best regards,
              Vlado

I was using vray 2.2 3dsmax 2011. We recently trialed vray 2.4 with 3dsmax 2014. I've will give this a go with the latest update. As soon the version 3 got approved for usage, I will revisit this area again. Cheers Vlad
