  • Gi or Reflection error with DR and relative to bucket size

    Hello,

i came across a small bug (or is it a mistake on my side?), i'm on vray 3, but had the problem also on 2.4

I have a simple scene with teapots and a reflection map in overide env, and when launching a render

    with DR :
    - bucket size 32 : small squares with different GI or reflection appears (zoom and look closely )
    - bucket size 128 : no squares appears, renders seems OK

    without DR :
    - bucket size 32 or 128 : everything seems OK

I have the impression it is reflection related, because when i remove the reflection, i do not see the "squares" anymore
In fact the problem appears to be kind of relative of the bucket size and the render resolution. Rendering with 32size bucket on a 3840px is a problem, rendering in a 1024px doesn't seem to reproduce the problem

Here is the scene archive , and exr renderings : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...on%20error.zip

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    Thank you for the files.

I made few tests with your scene and found that the problem comes from the Blur Offset parameter. When it has a value bigger than "0", all buckets rendered by the slaves are with different brightness.
Actually it doesn't seems to be related to the reflection override slot or bucket size. When I add the map to the environment slot and render only the background, the issue is still there.

However, thank you very much for your report, we will forward this case to the developers and as soon as we have a fix, will post here.

Meanwhile you can move your JPG file to V-ray HDRI map and adjust all settings according your needs. Then use it as reflection environment map.
