  • Two sided material and Ambient Occlusion

    Hello,

I'm noticing an issue with the Vray 2 sided material when Ambient occlusion is clicked on. It seems to ignore the 2 sided material settings unless there is a check box I'm missing. Please see attached.

    Thanks

Try to gradually decrease the AO multiplier and see if it affects the translucency. It seems to me like it is just creating AO on the surface which darkens it.
Alternatively, you can replace the lamp cover mesh with an opaque one (or just turn off the opacity map if it is just an opacity effect) and see if you get any translucency. If you do, then it is just AO being AO.

Thank you,.......the lamp shade was not a single surface so I changed the material on the inner portion to a solid soft white with a bit of refraction and changed the outer material to a solid material. Both materials have the Vray 2 sided material assigned. That seemed to work.

      Thanks

the 2 sided material works best on a single surface, but good that you got it to work on 2 surfaces...
