  • Vraysun render position not matching viewport position

I am positioning the vray sun in-camera so that it appears just behind a particular bit of geometry. It is not connected to any kind of daylight system. When I render, the position of the sun 'orb' is very different to the viewport position.

    Any ideas?

How close is your sun node to the rest of your objects in the scene, Remember the Sun Position is supposed to be a few million miles away so you may need to move your sun light object back in distance a bit to get a more accurate viewport representation of where your sun is in the sky.

Dave is right, you'll need to move the sun further away to get a better idea of where it will be in the image.

haha, change your coord mode to local, and select your move tool. Set your transform to relative transformations and in Z, type -92,960,000 miles

That might be a little excessive... a few 100m will normally do ok.

the sun target has to be aligned to the camera too, yours is off to one side.

              I disagree. Exact distances only.

Thanks guys. I will do this. I just assumed WYSIWYG as with spotlights/omni/ies etc.
