  • Compositing V-ray Render Layers in Photoshop

    Hi,

I am trying to combine some renderpasses to a beauty-pass. But i can't get it to work.
The image is turning out to bright somehow.
    I have,
    VRayShadow, inverted (multiply)
    VrayReflection (add)
    VrayRefraction (add)
    VraySpecular (add)
    VrayRawLighting x VrayDiffuseFilter (multiply) (add)
    VrayRawGlobalIllumination x VrayDiffuseFilter (multiply)

I have Photoshop setup with, Proof Setup - sRGB (2.1) - Preserve RGB.
Image mode is set to 16 bit.

I have Gamma 2.2 in Max and i have saved the images (targa 32bit) with gamma 2.2.
Have attached my Max-file in this message, can someone help me sort out what i doing wrong?

    /Andreas

In ps your mode needs to be 32bit otherwise the comp wont work

Thank you! I switched to 32bit in Photoshop and almost everything wen't ok.
I had to change the opacity of the shadows to 10%.
Still having problem with the Refractive object, it turns out to bright. I am using "affect channels: All channels" on the refractive material.

Have a look at the attached image.

When All Channels is used you have to omit the information from refraction/reflection render element for that particular object.
With All Channels ON Vray will distribute reflection/refraction information to other render elements like GI, Lighting and etc but it will still keep that information in the reflection/refraction element.
Therefore if you compose all elements in a normal way without removing its contribution from reflection/refraction element you will get doubled result.

          Hi guys,
my Vray shadow render element renders in color how come is that?
Also, how woudl i invert it if i work in 32bit and the invert commant is not accessible at all?
          thanks a lot

It's just called "Difference". Many times you use the shadow 2x. 1st on difference to remove them all, and then another lay on top set to add and then the opacity makes it work like your might expect.
