  • V-Ray toolbar with custom UI on startup

    Hi everyone!

I was anxiously awaiting the new V-Ray 3.0 release, and it's a blast! Congrats to chaosgroup here for listening to the userbase
Now what I also was happy about is the new toolbar which usually gets setup automatically by default. Now we have a highly customized 3ds max interface which gets automatically loaded from network locations on startup to keep everyone up to date.
Unfortunately this also includes that the new V-Ray Toolbar doesn't get set up since it's not in the UI file which gets loaded. I do want to update the UI file to contain the toolbar but I don't want to manually create it, assign icons et cetera.
Is there some macroscript or some way where VRay sets up the toolbar for me to use? I would love to have it in the UI, too!
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

You don't have to manually create VrayToolbar.
First it should be loaded by default when Vray 3.x is installed, and second if for some reason it is not loaded you could enable it by right-click on menu-bar and select VrayToolbar.

It is just a single click action, and once performed the toolbar will be always there when Max starts.

        Hi,

Okay I've checked the menu and for me nothing like that shows up, there is no VRayToolbar.

I am one step further though:
I have disabled the scripted UI load on startup from a network ui file.
My local start layout was my custom layout now already, but the VRaytoolbar got created anyways, which is good.

I noticed it worked fine. Now I went ahead and saved that working UI to my network UI file, and re-enabled the automatic scripted loading of said UI file containing the VRayToolbar.
Now it I have the toolbar in my custom UI, which is fine, BUT the Buttons do not do anything. Also the tooltips are messed up (each VRayToolbar Icon shows ">>>@!&*#<<<").
When I do NOT load custom UI at startup via script from network it works fine. Any ideas on why it is like that and what I can do to fix it?

*Bump* Isn't there just some MCR file which creates this toolbar? It has to be possible somehow...

It should be possible, but we need to look into it a bit. It would help if you can email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com and describe to me how you run 3ds Max in more detail so that we can reproduce the issue here.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

                  *bump*
I am also not able to see an option for a vray toolbar. Using 3DS Max 2014 and 2015 and Vray 3.
Any news on this? I want to access the quick settings.

                    Hi,

We've made some changes concerning v-ray toolbar and custom layouts. The fix will be available with
                    coming nightly build.
According quick settings you can access it with script command: macros.run "VRay" "vrayQuickSettings"
                    or create your custom button:
