VraydisplacementMod + 2d mode + noise map + animated phase not rendering!

I've found a problem with vray not rendering a simple displaced plane.
When I use 2d displace with a noise map (explicit map channel) it renders ok but as soon as I animate the phase of the noise en press render the rendering window get stucked in "updating instances"
If I change to 3d mode it renders ok.

I've tried it on different machines and different vray versions.

Could this be a bug?
