Issue with Multiple Hair & Fur Modifiers and Motion Blur

  • Issue with Multiple Hair & Fur Modifiers and Motion Blur

    I'm working on a scene that has a single object with multiple (3) Hair&Fure modifiers on it. This works great and all everything renders fine using the MR Prim / Vray Hair Mtl approach...until I enable Object Motion Blur in the hair object's properties in order to get a velocity render element. Once I do this, one of the 3 hair modifiers just doesn't render at all. If I disable the top Hair&Fur modifier the other two will render. Also, if I clone the object twice and have each one with only a single Hair&Fur they will all 3 render.

    Max 2014 and Vray 2.40.04. Any ideas?

    OK, I've done some more testing and have changes my setup to three different objects each with a single Hair modifier. I can render any one of these individually with object motion blur checkbox enabled but if I try to render two or more Vray hangs at "Udpating Objects (H)" requiring me to kill the process and restart Max. If I render all objects at frame 001 where I don't have any mesh animation it renders fine. The issue only occurs once my hair emitter objects are deforming.

      We know about this Hair and Fur issue when motion blur is enabled, but unfortunately it is not solved yet.

      Can you post a scene fore this? It would be helpful to test this as well.

        Thanks for the reply Tashko. I'm working on a simple scene that re-creates the issue. From my initial tests it appears that having a morpher modifier with "automatically reload targets" checked (to support animated morph target) is one possible culprit. I will send the file along as soon as I have it narrowed down.
