  • Refractive Material Alpha bug?

    Hi,

    I just stumbled upon a problem and I´m not sure if that already existed pre- Vray 3.0

    Example:

    -Make a box, assign a solid material.
    -make a teapot, put it in front of the box, assign a refractive material
    -In the refractive options enable "affect Color+Aloha" or "affect all channels".

    The alpha of the teapot will now be grey, so that you can´t switch out the image background in PS, because it will also show through the solid box behind the teapot..
    Shouldn´t the alpha be opaque where the solid box is visible behind the teapot?
    Is that a normal behaviour or a bug in 3.0?

    We have a similar issue into our system but I am not sure if it is the same one.
    I also tried to reproduce this issue but it seams that it works fine in our environment.
    Would it be possible to send us a sample scene and let us know which is the exact version of Vray that you are using?

      I am having the exact same issue!

      Has that been resolved yet? My Vray version is 3.00.04.

        Is it possible that this is a bug triggered by unticking the 'affect alpha' option for the Vray domelight?

        I can't seeem to find another explanation. This is really weird.

        I have installed the latest Vray version now and the problem persists.

              Ooops, problem solved.

              I accidently had the reflection affect color and alpha.

              Too much work and not enough sleep
