  • Max crashes when opening file with Xref Scene with VRay IES light in XRefScene

    Hello,
    Need your help urgently!

The Max crashes ONLY when Option "Ignore Lights" is ON. When the option is OFF we have no problem to open the scene.

    3ds Max 2014, sp4, sp5
    VRay 2.40.04

    Thank you in advance
    Dmitry

what if you import it all into a new scene and save it with a new name?
    (the xrefed file)

Then reload the xref in your main scene with the new name?
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

Thank you for your quick reply, Morne.
      It didn't help.

I can send the max file but it is easily to recreate.

      1. Create the VRay IES light in new max file and save as 1.max
      2. Create the new max file 2.max and XRef Scene 1.max with "Ignore Lights" ON
      3. Close it and try to open again

All our machines with 3ds max 2014 and VRay 2.40.04 crash at step #3.
And deadline is catching our balls

      Heeeelp!

            Thank you Vlado!

Small update, Max 2012 works just fine.

Ah. Does it work fine if you switch to another viewport like DirectX or OpenGL?

              Best regards,
              Vlado

No, it doesn't... however we do have a fix and if you email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com I can get it to you.

                Best regards,
