  • Possibly VRay Material Grab Viewport Still Image Bug

Doesn't seem like this would be VRay-specific, but when I try to grab a large viewport directly out of Max (through the tools menu), shortly thereafter scene materials (in particular multi-materials) go black.
Last two latest versions of VRay and 2014.

How large is large? Also, which viewport do you use (Nitrous, DirectX etc)?

    Best regards,

Near full viewport for working at 2560x1600 on a 30" (minus the top toolbar and animation/timeframe bar.)
However, the FB automatically positions itself in the middle of my main 30" monitor and my 39" 4k (currently 3840x2160 resolution.)
The FB itself has fine results but after I close it the viewport multimaterial maps go black.
      Using default Nitrous.
Running 590 GTX and 780 GTX.

        Hi,

I think that I was able to reproduce this issue in my tests.
Here is what I get right after Grab > Capture still image

Name:	Capture3.JPG
Views:	1
Size:	199.0 KB
ID:	851809

I'm going to investigate further whether is V-Ray or Max problem.
        Thank you.

Update: Actually it doesn't occur all the time.

Yeah it's really freakin random but enough to have caused me to reinstall the previous VRay, new drivers, old drivers, and panic lol. Glad it's not just me.

Managed to find specific steps to reproduce it every time. Also it seems to be a V-ray related issue, so I will forward it to our developers team.
However, the render is not affected by those black Multisub-object swatches and you are able to get correct final image.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

Thanks for posting this jujubee. I just learned about that feature from your post, and was always using print-screen key....

Haha. I usually use Snagit but have moved to Greenshot.
However with the new large monitor, the screencapture software (both of them) has been acting VERY buggy so it's rendered my traditional method useless.
Hence this method and this method freaking me the heck out.

What's wrong with PrintScreen and Alt+PrintScreen? Then paste in whatever image program you are using (MSPaint, IrfanView etc)?

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado
