  • Vray & Max loading texture times across server

    Hey All,

We're running 3ds Max 2014 and Vray 2.40.04 and seem to be having issues with loading textures used in our scenes.
We work on and across servers (Mac) so we can share files. The issue seems to occur when using any kind of compressed textures in our scene.
Max takes an age to load the scene. (The same scene loads quicker without these textures), sometimes to the stage where it appears that Max has crashed.
The only way around this seems to be using PNG file format or uncompressed Tiff files which are not practical space wise.

I'm sure this is a vray issue, I just wondered if anyone else was having this problem?

    Thanks,

    TonyG.

Why would you think this is a V-Ray issue? Bitmap textures (the regular 3ds Max ones) are handled by 3ds Max itself and V-Ray has nothing to do with them. If you are using VRayHDRI for the textures, it's a different story.

Is the 3ds Max Bitmap Pager enabled in your scenes?

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

I copy all my assets locally, using SyncBackPro, which speeds things up for me.
