  • Problems with vray3 rendering hdri

Hi all, i have a problem.
I installed Vray3.0 in max 2011 to test it before installing in max 2014 (that i use for working).
Render time is faster in vray3 but i have very different image result.
In the scene i have only a "vray dome + hdri" and a "sun" ( no sky).
    Any suggestion?

    Regards.

Is your color mapping the same in both scenes? Both same GI calculation? Both same camera?
    A.

Can you send us the scene for investigation?
What is the status of Embree and Probabilistic Lights options?

OK. i will send both ( 2011 and 2014). Embree is off and probabilistic is off.

PS: another problem-if subpixel is ON RT-render is dark ( i know that subpixel is not supported but in old RT i can see the right brightness).

The issue comes from different Color Correction Curve between both version 2.4 and 3.0.
If you remove Curve color correction from both buffers the result will be almost identical.

SORRY! i forgot to attach the EXR texture for the dome light. I will send you the link.

The problem is not the curve ( that can change a little brightness and contrast) but "the color" of the image . In Vray2.4 is more yellow....and in vray 3 is blueish.

              Thanks for the help.

The difference comes from Dome Light Orientation. In Vray 3.0 there is a new option which allows to bind texture to Dome Light Orientation.
This option is turned ON by default, since the DomeLight in your scene is rotated Vray 3.0 takes this into account while Vray 2.4 doesn't, that's why the result differs.
Turn that option OFF or restore DomeLight orientation to 0,0,0 and both version should produce the same result.

This is a known issue and it is already reported to our developers.
We will let you know when we have some updates on that matter.
