  • 2 Lights planar on one another can cause issues

I did a quick search and did not see anything about this so I apologize if this has been brought up.

    Edit: Using Vray 3.00.06

Normally I wouldn't be using 2 lights duplicated on top of each other, but in this case I had 2 lighting set ups and forgot to turn one of the setup layers off, resulting in 2 lights for every light in the scene. I was able to recreate it in a simple scene.

I noticed on a job having 2 lights sitting on top of each other causes artifacts that punch a hole through every channel. I had Embree on at the time, which makes the issue faint but not go away. Moving the lights apart fixes it. These lights are both set to invisible.

Thought I'd share, haven't seen this one before.

    Hi,

Thank you for pointing this out, actually I haven't seen it reported.

However, I will check whether this behavior could be fixed. As a workaround you can try just to decrease the Light Half -Width or Length with very small value.

We cannot fix this, it is best to avoid overlapping faces (in geometry or lights).

      Best regards,
      Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
