  • Vray Could not obtain a license & DR Limit CPU

    HI

    Quick 2 questions, running vray 3 have plenty of licenses for render nodes, one of the nodes works on workstation license but when it comes to network render doesn't like to find a license.

    Second, running DR rendering, is there a limit where it's actually not a good idea to use as many machines, for instance we have 8 dual xeons running then added some more single cpu nodes but they sit idle and don't render. Is there any issue in mixing to the 2?

    Thanks

    Have you checked the V-Ray log file from that node for any errors?

    If you look at the V-Ray log on the client machine, does it say that is successfully connected to the nodes?

      regarding license,

      vraylog says

      [2014/Jun/3|20:50:16] Broadcasting NOTIFY_PRE_RENDER.
      [2014/Jun/3|20:50:16] Tiled bitmap cache size set to 1000 MB
      [2014/Jun/3|20:50:16] Preparing renderer...
      [2014/Jun/3|20:50:16] error: Could not obtain a license (0).
      [2014/Jun/3|20:50:16] Calling renderBegin().
      [2014/Jun/3|20:50:16] Sending RenderBegin().
      [2014/Jun/3|20:50:16] Caching camera animation.

      tried a fresh install of vray as well, is there anything else I can delete / try ?

        Please check for any firewall rule (built-in windows of part of anti-virus software)that might be preventing V-Ray to access the license server.
        How do you submit the job. Do you use backburner?
