  • Licensing Emergency - Can't get license to work over network for render node

    Hi Chaos folks,

I've just installed a fresh win8.1, max design 2014 sp5 and vray 3.00.07 on one of my nodes with network slave installation. I can't change the license server name or port - vrlservice.xml appears to be locked somehow. It's not set to Read Only. I am an admin user.

I've tried changing the settings through vray UI, through the dedicated license management app and manually direct in the file but no luck.

I am not running the VRayspawner service or manual app either, although when I try to register the vray spawner service nothing happens at all, it seems.

Any ideas for how to address this asap?

    Many thanks!

When I try to use the "change vray license server settings" app i get "cannot save settings".

I think somehow the license files are locked but I can't see how. The files and folder are not "Read Only".

      Hi,

Even though you are logged in as admin, please use Run as administrator option to change V-Ray client license settings.
You can do that by right clicking on "change V-Ray client license settings" and choose "Run as administrator"
Let me know if this helps you.

I've just remembered that you need to do a Custom Installation and set the server there before you install 3.x. Fingers crossed this solves it!

Thanks Tashko - re-installing with the server set up before installation has sorted it out I think.

I will remember the need for running as Admin as well.

          Thanks,
