  • Embree: Memory allocation failed

    Hi there,

    I have a pretty heavy scene: forest pack (grass, pebbles, trees, bushes, flowers...), railclone (roof), displacement (bricks), environment fog and some complex procedural materials. When I render the scene at a resolution of 2K without the vraydisplacement everything is fine. But when I render with displacement and at 4K (also lower color/noise thresholds for AA and DMC) I get this message:

    "Error building embree static ray caster, error message: memory allocation failed."

    And as a result most of my geometry isn't being rendered (by the looks of it only things related with vrayproxies are actually showing up in the render: trees, bushes, roof,...)

    I have 64GB of RAM

    I just render to the Vrayframebuffer. And Static geometry has been ticked in my vraydisplacementmod.

    Can you get us the scene to support@chaosgroup.com for investigation? Also, do you have the "static geometry" option in VRayDisplacementMod enabled?

      Well I figured it might have to do with the static geometry, rendering at 2K as we speak without static geometry ticked (noise threshold still low though). Takes a while until LC is finished now though, but before that it took a long time converting vertices and my memory went through the roof. Well see if it renders fine at 4K with lower noise.

          Ok, but even if it renders, we should still take a look at the scene - we want Embree to work well with the "static geometry" option, after all

            Once I have spare moment of time to pack it all together I will send u guys the files, could take a few days though.
