    If you want to fire a render and continue working, simply use backburner, or make a script to fire a 3dsmaxcmd render.

    Oh I see... had me all excited there for a minute. I'm allergic to backburner at the best of times.

    If you did ever find a way to enable "background rendering" in a similar fashion to how Photoshop now works that would be tremendously useful.
