  • First Render Node Issues

    Hey everyone,
So I finally got around to building my First Render Node and Vray does not seem to like it very much. Here are the specs:

    FX-8350
    M5A78L-M/USB3
    16gb gskill ares 1600
    Windows 8.1 pro

I installed 3ds max as trial and then installed Vray 3.0 (latest build) and selected node during installation. Now if I fire up 3ds max it loads find until the splash screen disappears and then the new window opens and it stops responding. If I uninstall vray it loads up without problems. I was trying to send a Backburner job to get it communicating but it takes forever to get past the initial hang and then it hangs again during the "Transforming Vertices" and sits there with max not responding until I end the task. The scene is very basic a box and a couple spheres with a few different materials on them just to get everything working together.

I tried to look for the Vray Log file but I can not seem to find it. Any help for a DR noob?

    Thanks

I figured it out, had to allow the vray license server through the firewall on the "master" computer. Can this be added to the manual? I did not see any mention of it anywhere.

Ok, so that works and now I have another problem. I am trying to render DR now. I can render on the slave if I disable the local host, if I do not it just keeps coming back "xxxx is not responding".

you need additional render licenses for DR.

I have one workstation license and one node license. That should let me render with 2 machines correct?

I guess I was mistaken on that. Well this sucks, my $500 render node is now going to be a $850 render node.

if you stay with vray 2.4 it has different license scheme.

I never had 2.x I purchased right when 3.0 came out. Should have bought the pack with the 5 nodes if I was smart because its the best deal per node but I am just starting out so cash flow is slow.
