  • Dome Light - Affect Alpha possible bug

    Hi all
I was just setting up a couple of DR machines today and came across a possible bug. In the test render attached the scene is lit with a HDRI Dome light with "Affect Alpha" unchecked. For some reason one of the machines rendered correctly while the other rendered as if the "invisible" option was turned on (it wasn't). It only rendered black buckets on the final AA pass. If Affect alpha was turned back on, both DR machines rendered correctly

There was a bug about that but I think it has been fixed.
Please check which V-Ray version is installed on the machine producing the black buckets, and what on all other ones.

Both machines are using Vray 3.00.07

OK - I've just run a quick test in our environment but I couldn't reproduce it.
However I got a similar result if the texture is not accessible for the slave machine.
Would it be possible to prepare a completely new scene with DomeLight only and run a test render between the workstation and the black-buckets machine.
Try to render it with and without Affect Alpha option.

By the way does the issue in the original scene disappear if Affect Alpha is disabled?

            Hi Svetlozar,
thanks for the reply. I will run a few more tests. If Affect Alpha is Enabled - then everything renders fine. You will notice in the original image that there appears to be no problem accessing the map. In fact there is a bucket at the top that is rendering half a chrome sphere and half background. The DR machine is seeing the map OK for the reflection, but not rendering the background.

Tomorrow is a tad busy, but I will upload the scene if it helps

The strange thing is that it only happens on that machine.
Is there any difference in terms of software/hardware on that particular one?

Would it be possible to send us the vray-log file after the render completes. Please note that the option "Restart servers on render end" in Distributed Rendering options should NOT be enabled in order to preserve the log overwriting.
