  • Annoying delay on render end

I am rendering locally on a fast PC (dual Xeon 24/48 core). When I am going through the test rendering phase, rendering small regions (of small, sub-1000 pixel) of the VFB, there is a really annoying hang at the end of the render before I can tweek anything - max just hangs. It is only for about 5 seconds or so, but when you are doing frequent tests, it gets frustrating.

Any way to get things more responsive? I am in Max2014 with Vray 3.00.03
    Kind Regards,

Are you using the Nitrous viewport? Does it go away if you switch to DirectX?

    Best regards,

I am using Nitrous. I will swap over and see if things improve.

Do people generally use Nitrous these days? I had assumed so. My card isn't the best for viewport display (a Quadro 4000)

Nitrous is a better viewport driver for sure; unfortunately the way it is implemented really messes up Windows messages processing. For example, I can't work at all if I have two copies of 3ds Max 2015 open with Nitrous - the GUI for the entire machine becomes extremely sluggish. There are no such issues with DirectX.

        Best regards,
        Vlado
