  • VrayLight Alpha bug?

    Hi there,

I have a weird Issue: I just started reworking an older scene and I noticed that my VrayLights were rendering black with Alpha -1.
I never had that issue before, any Idea what might be causing it?
    We´re on 3.004.

Where is that Alpha -1? In the WrapperMtl/Matte Properties?
Would it be possible to attach sample scene?

Lights don´t have matte properties, so I really don´t know why I can see it in the rendered alpha channel...

I can´t attach the scene right now, I ´ll try to find the time to do that. I just wanted to know if anybody experienced something like this before. Only light I know that can affect alpha is domelight...

Is Invisible checkbox activated? What about Embree?
May you update to the latest official 3.00.07 and see if there is any improvement on that regard?

I just merged the scene into a clean scene and voila - Problem solved.
It´s a bit like tech supports standard answer and running gag: "Have you tried turning it on and off again?"

Then I saved the render preset from the original and loaded it into the fresh one and the problem was back...
So I checked the render settings and found the problem:
In the original scene (the one this one was based upon) I had tons of refractive elements and was playing around with render settings to optimize render speed (something I´m still struggling with...), for one I set maximum transparency levels from 50 to 3...
Once I set this back to its default value the vraylight no longer was rendering black with alpha -1...

Glad to hear you sorted it out.
This however looks like a bug which I cannot reproduce here - probably the setup I am using is different.
Would it be possible to prepare a simplified version of the scene which still holds the issue and send it for investigation?

I just noticed the same problem in a different scene, I´ll try to send a simplified scene to support!
