  • fireflies when using VRayLensEffects

    Hi!

I'm getting lots "fireflies" when I use VRayLensEffects, even if I tick on "Render Elements only". The image renders fine and clean but afterwards I get those tiny spots/fireflies everywhere.
It happened to me with VRay 2.x before and now again with VRay 3.00.8. This makes some kind of sense when I use "bad" render settings but again there is no reason why the spots should be added on top of the rendering while having "Render Elements only" checked...

    Greetings

The lens effects basically shows the image as though the "sub-pixel mapping" option is off. The fireflies are there, just suppressed by the "sub-pixel mapping" option in the regular render. In V-Ray 3.x, it is better to use the "max ray intensity" option instead.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi Vlado,

thanks for that fast answer! I understand what you wrote but "Render Elements only" for me would mean that the final rendering is untouched and only Render Elements are created afterwards. If that's not the case the option "Render Elements only" does not make much sense.

About "max ray intensity": I don't know what exactly to do with this as there is no real explanation in the docs. What happens if I raise the value and what if I lower the value? My understanding is that the lower this value the more those fireflies are reduced, right?

      Thanks

Ah ok. Yes, this sounds like a bug - will make a note to look into it.

This is correct, yes. This is also improved in the SP - in the official builds, some fireflies that could be suppressed, are not.

I don't understand your question. Is that question related to my post?
