  • VRayProxy "Force first map channel"

    Hi,

Can we default this to "off"? It messes with multisubmaterials. Just found out it was that checkbox that caused it.

Basically I think it overrides all submaterials. Had a multisub with 3 submaterials.

    Vray 3.00.07
    3ds max 2014 Design SP3
    Win7 x64
I have a sample scene, if required (with steps to reproduce). But basically the easy fix was disabling that Force first map channel box.
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
    64GB RAM

Actually maybe it messes with the mapping. THere may actually be the same submaterial on the faces in question, but with completely messed up mapping coordinates. 3ds max has standard mapping channel 1, right? So in theory this shouldnt interfere with mapping at all, but apparently it does.

It will mess things up if the meshes have a vertex color channel, which will be moved as the first mapping channel. I think I switched this off for newer builds.

Alright, that may be. I noticed it only on 3rd party meshes. Not on my own. Maybe they modelled it somewhere else in another program and the export settings were strange. Anyways, good to know!

          Please do switch it off
I just spend two hours finding out why my trees didn't render properly. Making new proxies, checking all materials..

It is already off by default in newer builds.

            Best regards,
