  • Exclude Proxy from GI? Doesnt work?

    Hi all

I have a LOT of proxies which is slowing my LC to a crawl. If I hide them, LC goes normal. Right-Click > VRayProperties > Untick Visible to GI doesnt seem to be doing anything, LC still slow.

So how can I exclude the proxies form GI? I'll stick in an VRayAmbientLight just for the proxies, but need to exclude from GI before any further tests
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

Whats even more weird, it's only a VRayplane, proxies, HDRI dome light and vraycam. If I do a region at the bottom left of the screen, nowhere near ANY proxies, it also takes forever. Hide proxies and it does same region including GI and render in less than a second?!?
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

How are the proxies placed? I mean do you use forestpack or something? Have you tried it with a mesh instead of a proxy?

Found the issue. They were copied.

When instanced, LC took few seconds

FYI, for the next service pack, V-Ray will automatically instance the geometry for proxies that point to the same .vrmesh file, even if they are separate copied objects in 3ds Max.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

It's been in the nightlies for a while now. It will be in the official V-Ray 3.0 release for Maya.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado
