  • Max crashes when loading vrimg into VFB

When I try to load an image into the framebuffer that I rendered last night, Max just crashes. I have to admit that the image is quite large, 35k by 17.5k with 21 renderelements. This whole thing rendered beautyfully with the memory framebuffer unchecked and saved into a VRIMG. But now I have troubles to convert that to EXR. Loading into the VFB crashes Max as I said, and the vrimg2exr tool just sits there using only one thread. Let it run overnight, nothing converted... What can I do?

    Regards

If you use the vrimg2exr tool, it has an option for the buffer size to use during conversion. Give it a larger value and the conversion should go much faster. If you still have issues, get us the file and we'll see what's going on.

    Best regards,

I tried that by increasing buffer size to 4096mb. Then, the ram just fills up very quickly and the whole thing swaps to disk. I will upload the vrimg to our ftp and send the link to the support team. Thanks for the help!
