  • cant network render

So I finally got 2 render boxes in the office. I have installed vray 3.08 and 3ds max 2015 design on them.

I am trying to use backburner to network render a test render. Simple scene, 20 frames, animated teapot. Issue is the server machine keeps giving me back a Vray Could not obtain a license (10061) message.

I have tried turning off the firewalls, allowing vray in the firewalls but not sure why the vray license will not show up on the servers.

Any insight would be very helpful.

    Thanks

The error which you get "Could not obtain license (10061)" means that V-Ray does not "see" the V-Ray license server.

There are few things to check:

    - is the V-Ray license service running on the machine having the dongle, please check for the icon in the Taskbar and also check in the Task Manager for vrlservice.exe.
    - make sure also that the slave-machine is configured to look for a license to the machine where the dongle is plugged.

If it is not running, please start it.

-check the V-Ray client license settings from the Windows Start menu->Programs->Chaos Group->V-Ray for...->Licensing->Administration->Change V-Ray client license settings.
Check whether the IP of the machine running the license server is entered under "License server".The port should be 30304.

-If all of the above are properly set, check for any firewall that might be preventing the connection to the V-Ray license server.
