  • VRayFastSSS2 and GI

I got a scene lit with GI that has an object that needs SSS, but I'm struggling to get it to render fast.

I obviously have "Scatter GI" turned on. But here is the problem:

Multiple Scattering set to: "Prepass-based illumination map" - GI is set to: "Irradiance/Lightcache". This combination should be the fastest, but it doesn't work, the object gets very dark.
Multiple Scattering set to: "Prepass-based illumination map" - GI is set to: "Bruteforce". This works, but is slow due to the bruteforce.
Multiple Scattering set to: "Raytraced" - GI is set to: "Irradiance/Lightcache". This works, but is slow due to the raytraced SSS.

Am I doing something wrong? or doesn't VRay work with the fastest combination?

Was working on simplied test scene to setup the SSS, now I took the object into my main scene and seems like Prepass multiscattring works with IR/LC Unfortunately I have no clue why.. Very confused.

Just did some more testing, and it's the "Prepass rate" that is the problem, when it's 0 or larger my models turn very dark, and it's like the bitmap I have in "overall color" isn't even used. If I use -1 or lower it works. Sounds like a bug to me.

        Hi,

Would it be possible to send us your scene file to check it out?
Also which V-Ray version you are using? Is it the latest 3.x service pack?
