  • Matte Light Bounce

I am using a matte material to catch shadows, but I am getting light bouncing up and shining off my material. How can I avoid this?

    HI,

Do you have any light source placed under the matte plane?
Can you share the Matte settings?

          Hi,

          Thank you Bobby.
Can you post a simple scene for this issue, just to check the whole setup.

Just got an email from the client and he has noticed it, too. Here is an example file.

I have a deadline, so I might turn off the material reflection, but that seems to be a silly workaround..

Thank you for attaching the file.

The reflections which are coming from the matte plane are quite strong. Try to enable " Matte for secondary rays" option or use an Override V-Ray material as a base shader for the V-Ray Wrapper. Then use the Reflection mtl. diffuse color to adjust the final render reflection brightness.

I will check again the scene file to understand your setup better and will give you with more information.

If you disable the matte property you will see the real shading of the floor plane. It is quite bright and overexposed, which reflects in the wood objects lower pat.

The other materials are darker compared to it and the Camera exposure has been adjusted according to them.
Hope this information helps you to get the requested render result.

Yes, thanks! I guess I forgot about the standard material that is in the matte
